Who taught the doctors to read, write, (legible or not) use correct grammar, and do arithmetic?

Sorry, can't help you there. We need teachers just as much as we need doctors, perhaps even more so. Plus, I've personally known some pretty stupid doctors, while I honestly cannot say the same about teachers (I believe I had excellent teachers growing up).

Why? Each profession has many contributions to make to our lives; as far as I know, they're not in competition with each other.

Doctors deal with bodies; teachers deal with minds. Working together, they help us create good and healthy lives.
