That is what the so called backward class people thing. Let reservation be for a limited period. It should be made clear to all that reservation should be a temporary phenomenon. Personally, what Ramanujachariar, the great exponent of Vashitadvaida did, by admitting many lower castes into the Brahman fold, he did a revolution of a sort. As a class, these neo Brahmans have integrated themselves into the Brahminhood, adapting themselves to the high caste conduct and life style.

Due to the backwardness in society , post independence it was the responsiblity of evry successive Government to uplift the down troden.
And if after 50+ years down the line reservation still exists making it a lost cause, is to be questioned.
First for it making a perticular section branded "Children of a lesser God".
More seriously our leaders should at least now mature from the vote bank politics.
Last but not the least, though it was ment for a short period of time it has been stretched on long enough showing the lethargy of the citizenry itself to remain so.

No. The simple fact of reservation status engenerates grievances in both the gain & loss parties. While the position losing merit guy may soon overcome the tough luck, it is a forever sense of guilt & inferiority to beguile the gainer that the accomplishment isn't an individual merit just politik fingerpoint at ancestory. I actually knew a doctor a fair daughter of serving IAS officer who got admission in medical college as well as promo in health sevices on basis of reservations, ever sufferring low & uncertain self image.
If I had to decide I would rather try subsidised quality education & socio-economic help than reserved univ & jobs, on merit compromise for the disadvantaged, to be fair.

No and Never. Protection and reservation will kill the natural abilities and initiative of the person. Help should be in the form of enriching and improving the ability of the person like a catalyst. Instead of reservation more teaching institutions should be brought to function. When the supply surpasses the demand then, there may be no need for apportioning the resources in the form of Reservation.

Of course not!
Who would have the right to decide who needs to be "upgraded"? Be careful, someone might decide that you need an upgrade.
