for all the people who said christmas cards dont recycle..... different local authorities have different rules. A lot of places do take cards and wrapping paper in their kerbside collection or have a recycling point at the tip.
If the council do not pick them up there are many companies such as tesco, sainsbury and TK max that do take purely greetings cards.
there are ways to reuse them like making them into gift tags.
I think it is so easy to recycle nowadays for the majority that I have no idea why more people do not recycle more items. Its just lazy not to it is so easy and hardly needs any lifestyle changes. we all have to do our part...stop pushing the blame and work onto other people

If you are referring to the UK:
Cards cannot be recycled with a domestic collection (from your house). This is due to the large amounts of dye used in the designs of the cards (the same goes for wrapping paper).
Some charity shops, notable Joseph Weld, organise collections of unwanted greeting cards and recycle them in bulk.
Hope this helps.

Some have done this, recycling the same card again and again. and it has become a source of amusement to their grandchildren.
Most of us cannot find the lights from last years christmas box, let alone find a card ten years ago, so we ditch them, sorry lil trees.
If it helps at all, I have not sent Christmas cards in years.... a decade at least.
Hurrah for emails, and texted greeting over cell phones

I recycle my Christmas cards, but the shops that offer this service in my area (and this is only in my nearest town 20 miles away) only do this in the month of January, not all year around.

My mother used to. She would cut the pictures off the front and use them as gift tags on her Christmas presents the following year thus recycling them.

I'm sure some people do but it takes a lot of effort for people to change their habits of a lifetime if they're not used to recycling.

Its probably ignorance that you can.
I was not aware until I saw an advert on telly advising to take used Xmas cards to tesco and wh smith.
So i did for the 1st time ever.
Think we should all try and make the effort.

...why do people buy greeting cards in the first place? Don't tackle the symptoms but the cause.
