My friend was going to sell her prom dress on EBAY and she even got a buyer but when her mom found out about it she said "No way" to buyer sent the money to Pay Pal but she hasnt been on her email since she found that out. Its been almost two months now. Can she get in trouble for this? or will the money just be sent back to the guy?

To all of you who tried to scare the living daylights out of me and my friend...The situation doesnt go as far as telling collection agencies and getting sued. YOU are the ones who obviously dont know what you're talking about.Dont you think things like this happen all the time. What if someones computer got washed away in Katrina and someone was awaiting payment from them. Well we did a little research and refunded all the money back to the man. It wasnt that serious. I hate Yahoo! answers some of you just dont know what you're talking about and are just plain mean.

Your friend should NEVER use eBay or PayPal again, she's just too STUPID. By now, the buyer may have made a complaint with both eBay and PayPal. Hopefully, they got their money back by now, but at a COST to them.
Sometimes, the buyer will call the POLICE. At that point, the seller faces arrest. In most cases, the complaint can be dealt with at the Police station, and avoid very high court fees.
But negligence is a CRIME.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

Yes, she can get in BIG trouble for that. When she put it up on eBay she committed to sell it to the highest bidder. Since it's been 2 months, the buyer is probably already pursuing a fraud case against her.
At the very least she's probably been banned from eBay and had her PayPal account frozen. Once a PayPal account is frozen for that, they'll never allow her back. It's also possible that it's been reported to the credit agencies as a fraudulent account.
If the buyer had a time sensitive reason for buying the prom dress, they may have further claims against her as well.
Hiding from the buyer will only exacerbate the situation.
She should seek legal advice from an attorney; she may well be needing one shortly.
If she's a minor, Mom may bear the brunt of the legal consequences as parents are legally responsible for their childrens' mis-deeds.

This female is definitely no chum of yours. a real chum does no longer make relaxing of you in front of your friends. Her little trick of imitating you and then guffawing approximately it shows all of them that that's o.k. to snigger at you. Going after a guy which you like is her way of exhibiting you that she is greater advantageous to you. this isn't the act of a pal. You already say that her movements are stupid and stressful. possibly it's time to spend time with people who're no longer stupid and stressful and who certainly such as you and understand the thank you to be acquaintances.

At the very least your friend should (as a matter of courtesy, if nothing else) contact the buyer, explain what happened, apologies profusely and beg for forgiveness.

I know about this issue because it has happened to me in the past.
If she doesnt send him the item then she will be fined £20-£50 depending on how much the dress went for, also her account will be closed and she will have to register again.
