The response you received from ghost3 is absolutely incorrect.

My own motherboard only has USB 1.1 sockets, but I have successfully installed a USB 2.0 adaptor card. It slots into a free PCI socket (they're usually coloured white). You then install the drivers from the CD that comes with the adaptor card, and hey presto, you have USB 2.0 functionality.

The device you are plugging in requires USB 2.0 to run at the correct speed. Your machine will have USB 1.0 or 1.1. You will need to install a card into your PC to enable you to use your device at it's full speed. It is a very simple process that I am sure you would be able to do yourself. The card will cost you about £10-15.

simple solution. no an adapter will not work you don't have the 2.0 drivers. what will work is a 2.0 pci card that you can install yourself. you can get them at an computer store, they only run about 30.00.

54Mbps is about as fast as you're gonna get from a standard wireless router.
