my friend's system has got a virus and nasty pics flood it.. he is able to use messenger but his default homepage in ie is full of dirty pics. he has a mcfree antivirus but it says it is not able to detect any virus. he has no other browser. so he can't download any antivirus progs. links keep coming from his messenger randomly with virus content.
what to do when
1. he cannot open his browser at all
2. his antivirus is useless
3. he has to do it himself?
please help!

start computer in safe mode ( press F8 ) at startup.
then run anti virus program.

He could try to remove the messenger program by searching through programs on his computer if that is the source and restart computer. If its the messenger that is the source it should be clear if it hasnt affected other programs like explorer browser permanently and then download messenger again. Hope that helps. Do you know the name of the virus? Maybe someone knows something specifically if you know the name?

1. Close all other programs shown in the task bar
including Mcfee.
2. OPEN IE
3 INTERNET OPTIONS/general home page blank.
refresh/reload .check blank page
4. Download/use Ccleaner from wwwccleaner.com
5. Download Firefox as second browser

Re boot the system, as the system start, hit the del button (your system may require you to hit a different key). Go to Safe mode, try to run your program from safe mode. then see if you can run Mcafree from safe mode.
