That is a great question!!! I think that you should be generous! Give them the same thing that you would give in your country.
I ate a meal in Chili's Egypt and the bill was $65 and they ticket only had $1.65 for a tip and I had received excellent service. Egyptians work very hard and are friendly the average income is very low in Egypt even though the internet says in Cairo there are over 200,000 millionaires.
I met people who I know are making less than $20 a month.

Tipping is a relative thing. It shows ur appreciation of the service provided. It's never mandatory, although some places add it on ur bill. 5% is way too low, that's not the norm. It's usually 10, 15 or 20%. It also depends on the amount and the # of people dinning. The higher the amount and the more people, the higher the tips would be.

I think a general rule of 10% applies globally, although my boyfriend and I found that always leaving a few pounds was enough. For example, if our bill was 75 Egyptian pounds, we would leave 100. Thats only a tip of £2.50 GBP. I think it is considered unacceptable to leave only peastres ( 50 peastres is only 5p GBP)

U don't have to tip everyone who is going to ask u to. Just if u feel that somebody actually did something nice to u u can give them one Egyptian pound or two , or five pounds the most.
