Ok so this is not a textbook reply....

The almighty bottom line, the savings, the dollars are what business leaders
and their legions of managers consider the "ball", and everyone in this part
of the organization has their eyes on it.
Now the workforce is comprised mainly of human beings driven by a myriad of
forces, need to survive, need to be praised, need to belong, need to
achieve. Automatons are easier to predict when productivity is essential.

Organizational psychology is the attempt to categorize these myriad
behaviours, studying, grouping and predicting outcomes. For what reason?, to
harness these energies so that it does not compete with the need for
productivity.

So, in business psychology, the managers are made to attend seminars that
teach them how to lead their staff to more glorious production levels, and
with some luck and carrots doled out at strategic moments, maintain an
energized momentum for the company.
