the best facial tanner is clarins. it is the most natural looking. year after year it is voted best by instyle magazine. if you want to try the natural route, try the aveda one. they both give a natural colour. just remember you have to build the colour up to the desired darkness. however, the key is to exfoliate your skin. if you have dry, patchy skin, it will show up with a self tanner. for at least three days before you self tan, exfoliate and m,oisturize your skin. this will give you a good surface to work with. i'm not sure if you can readily find this but they may have it at sephora is a line of self tanners called fake bake (or fake n bake...can't quite remember). this line has a papaya exfoliate scrub, an oil primer and the self tanner. this is a fantastic line but sometimes hard to find. i also recommend the mystic tanning system, it is a spray tan. it will give you a much darker tan immediately and it lasts longer than the self tanning creams you use on your own. even with mystic tanning, you have to exfoliate.

If you weren't opposed to the idea, I would recommend going to see your local tanning salon & asking them about their sunless options. Most salons offer a pretty wide range in products, from self-tanning booths for the entire body, simply facial tanners, and at home body tanning mists. If you are NOT looking for a moisturizer with a self-tanning component, I would highly suggest a product that mists, not one that you must rub in yourself or a spray. A mist will give you a much more even looking hue, and reduce the risk of streaking. If you want to tan your whole body, I recommend going to a salon & using the MysticTan booth, the color is phenomenal, streak-free, and totally non-orangey. If you simply want color on your face, I would recommend California Tan's Airbrush Spray with flawless tint ($25), and to prep your skin use their sunnless prep exfoliator ($18) and follow with their face perfector ($25) which has a light sunless agent to help keep up your glow. If you want any more info on their products (which there is a plethora more), go to www.californiatan.com, they have a great section in which you answer a few ?s and they give you your own perscription of exactly which products are best for you! Good luck!!!

hi there
i would recommend from my own experience loreal sublime bronze self tanning cream for the face. it has a tinted moisturiser in it plus a tanning formula in it. its great. it takes a little while to develope but it looks natural. and if you think you want to go darker use it once a day for a whole week or whatever or if you just want a suttle glow just twice a week. great stuff.
also if you are prone to break outs or have any pimple or acne scars i would advice you not to use a tan on your face as scars will become darker and show up even more and you may likely break out.
try a powder bronzer too they are fab!!

I use the new dove natural energy glow. It really does make a difference and its subtle. I love it.
Only problem is it does stain your hands so make sure you scrub your hands after you use it or in a couple of days you will have orange streaked palms!
