Web logging is keeping an online diary that everyone can read. Why anyone would want to write them or read them is a completely different matter.
BTW, the term blog isn't short for web log as such - an early web logger split the phrase into "we blog" as an in-joke. This got picked up by other web loggers and used as a verb and then a noun.

It's what we've been calling an "online diary" for years. Some genius attached the name "blog" to it and re-sold it to a fresh generation of gullible fools, telling them it was somehow "cool" and a desirable thing. I'm not entirely sure that anybody reads the blogs of anyone who isn't famous, so I'm not entirely sure why so many people have them...
You may have guessed, I'm very cynical about blogs...

It's a type of personal page that you write kind of like a diary but it can be about anything from your life to your weight loss and diet, television shows, your opinion on current events anything really.
