Hi, i hope these will help you, There is also a web site below that might also be of some use:

Definition: The Minoan culture is the earliest of two Bronze Age cultures known on islands in the Aegean Sea which are considered precursors to classical Greece; the other is Mycenean. The Minoan culture lasted on Crete from about 2600-1100 BC. The capital was Knossos, founded about 1900 BC. In 1500 BC, the volcano Thera erupted, destroying the island of Akrotiri and the Minoan occupation there. Knossos itself was destroyed by another earthquake in 1375 BC. What finally ended the Minoan culture was wars with the Mycenaeans from mainland Greece and Egypt, probably over the extensive trade that had developed in the Mediterranean at the time.

The archaeologist most associated with the Minoan culture is Arthur Evans, who gave the Minoan culture its name (from the legendary king Minos) and attempted to reconstruct Knossos.

Definition: The Apulian culture was an Iron and Bronze Age Greek colony in the boot heel region of southern Italy during the fifth century BC. The region, now called Puglia, is best known for its classical vases.

Definition: One of three "ages" invented by Danish museum director C.J. Thomsen to make sense out of his collections (the others are Stone and Bronze Ages). In reality, the technology of iron smelting was developed at different times throughout the Old World, and in some cases (like Africa) the Bronze Age was entirely skipped. The technique of iron smelting provided access to efficient and durable metal tools and weapons.

Try searching online encyclopedias or history websites. Something like Current Archaeology the magazine might have definitions or at least a definition of the era for that civilisation - http://www.archaeology.co.uk/

Hope this helps :)

P.S. it is very difficult to define a civilisation - you cannot sum up a whole civilisation in a sentence - what defines who a people are is their material culture, etc.

A social construct between two or more people: I promise not to kill you or steal from you if you agree to do the same.
