Hi April...unfortunately, there are many pet abuse cases that some can be a bit too gruesome to share publicly. I have personally witnessed one of the most horrific types, however do not feel it is something which should be repeated and it makes me feel nauseated to even think about it. HOWEVER....here's a website that lists all the animal abuse cases documented and are under investigation if you would be very interested to visit: http://www.pet-abuse.com/ Please note some of the material disclosed can be a bit upsetting.

Ah, jeez, I've seen horrible things. I am a rescuer and I specialize in abused animals. One of the worst ones I've ever seen though was an iguana named Ivy. Her former owner, a man, beat her senseless (threw her against walls, burned her with cigarettes, plucked off some of her scales and spines with a pliers) and she was a wreck when I got her. She had three broken bones, two abcesses (as a result of dirty living), was in way too small of a tank (a 10-gallon aquarium for a 2-foot long lizard? Sick.), had broken of teeth and a mouth infection, problems from malnutrition, and she HATED all men with a passion. She was very agressive and it took me months to get her to trust me at all (I am a girl, and I worked with her for hours a day). Slowly, she got better, and though she never got over her viciousness towards men, otherwise she was the most enriching pet/friend I've ever had.

i run a rescue,i have seen some horrible cases, starvation, beatings, general neglect but,one of my worst was a call i got to come pick up a huge 200lb mastiff/Rott mix that had been abused,he didn't look abused he was in good shape, healthy weight, clean didn't smell bad,but he HATED everyone i could tell it was just fear not actual meaness but he did bark funny,it was very hoarse and not a loud bark like a big dog would make, the reason i was called and he wasn't put down is that i specialize in dogs that need work on manners, and i am not afraid to take on a challenge,it took me two weeks just to be able to touch him, when i was able to touch and pet him i realized that he was very weird and touchy about his neck, after further investigation i discovered he had a nylon collar that had been left on as he grew from puppy hood into adult hood it cut into his skin slowly stangling him,the skin had literally grown over the collar and he was one wrinkley loose skinned guy so it hid all evidence of it it was like someone had surgically implanted the collar into the neck, the only reason he didn't die was that the collar rotted and broke inside the skin giving him some relief but it had permanently effected his voice box.....people can be so ignorant...how can you "forget" the dog had a collar on??

had a neighbor once had dog on short chain connected to dog house. he never got any exercise, I never saw them take the poor dog for a walk or play with him.I WONDER WHY THEY WANT THEM IF THEY JUST SIT THEM IN THE YARD and never even pay attentention to them, makes me mad and sad. I Hate chains a nice big dog pen or better yet fenced in back yard is better, they should out law chaining them up,they look so sad can you imagine how that would feel not being able to run and play and looks depressing for the poor dogs.and the chain will get caught in the water dish and turn it over lots of them probably do without because of that.they should at least attach it to the dog house so they can't turn it over.

sadly those closest to me are animal abusers. My sister has the sweetest husky ever. But she hates the dog and her husband abuses it and every time anybody goes over there she's tied to the back door, usually out of food and water. My sister just screams at her all the time but my brother in law is physically abusive. They wont take her outside as often as she needs and when she finally cant take it anymore and is forced to pee or poop on the floor, she gets hit or kicked for it. Yet she's still soooo sweet and it breaks my heart. Every time I go over there I raise my hand to pet her and she cowars for an instant before she remembers I'm not going to hit her. Then I spoil her rotten and scratch her and rub her belly til her hearts content. But I know as soon as I leave she's going back to the door..

My best friend has 3 cats that they cant afford to take care of so she decided the best way to fix this situation was to get a dog on top of it. my friend claims to be an animal lover but the dog spends most of her life in a little cage in the back room. Nobody ever bothered to take the time to train her properly so whenever she does something wrong (that she doesnt know is wrong, because she was never taught) she's shoved in that little cage again and left there for the majority of the day.

We used to have a dog. she was small and fat with short legs. One day she went to the top of the stairs (when no one else was home) and barked and barked..My father was trying to sleep so he came out, grabbed her by her harness and carried her downstairs this way (she had a hard time breathing when anyone picked her up normally, much less by her harness) He threw her in my mothers room and she landed on her face, hard. (he told my mother about it later, I wasnt suppose to hear but I did..I was 15 at the time). A week later, she died.

Also, he constantly brags that when he was a child, a womans dog had puppies and she paid him and his friends to take the puppies to the vet for her, him and his friends put the puppies in a sack and tossed it in the river, and kept the money.

I dont know how it happened but despite most of my family, I adore animals and couldnt dream of ever hurting one. Even when I accidently hurt them (like when a cat darts in my path while im walking and I accidently kick it) I feel guilty for days about it, even though it wasnt on purpose..I cant IMAGINE intentially bringing harm to an animal.
