One concept. Those around me don't feed me, house me, cloth me, pay my bills, work for me, or do anything for me and so their opinion doesn't have any value in my life.

When I was at school, it was discovered and broadcast at breakneck speed, that I am gay.

I had known this for a few years, but hadn't told anyone, and it came as a bit of a shock to my mates I think. Anyway they all, to a man, decided to abandon me, which was pretty harsh whilst I was supposed to be doing my A-Levels. Anyway I did bad in my exams, but still went to university and used that as an escape to meet people who would accept me and who had no prior knowledge about me.

I think the key is to just be yourself, do what you want to do in life and bugger everyone else. When you look back at 80 years old, you don't want to be thinking that you wish you could do it all again differently. If people can't accept you for who you are then why do you need them around you?

If you're up front with people from the word go, then they'll decide for themselves whether or not they want to hang around with you.

Enjoy yourself, live for the moment, experience everything you can and never ever have any regrets even if something seems bad at the time you will learn from it. Life's a great thing mate... don't waste it by worrying about what other people think.

Those who don't accept it are getting fewer and fewer. If they can't accept you being gay, then they're not worth having around you.
"We are so vain that we even care for the opinions of those we don't care for."

The way I see it... I thank my lucky stars that I survived my suicide attempts when I was young and trying to deal with this. The best thing I ever did was make peace with me. I'm the one that has to live with this - not "them". You can't live your life trying to keep everybody else happy at the expense of your own happiness.

Those around me who are important...my family, my friends and my coworkers....DO accept me. And I have a wonderful partner who loves me. As for the bigoted losers who don't, that's their problem. I fortunately don't encounter them very often in my everyday life. People who are consumed with hate for no good reason (whether it's due to sexual orientation, race, religion or culture) will hopefully one day see the error or their ways. Ignorance and lack of a good upbringing and good education are socially retarding. The refusal to educate yourself and believe in lies, assumptions and generalizing stereotypes IS a choice. Wonder if any of them believe in karma?

People around me accept people being gay, or they are no longer around me. I have no time for ignorant bigots.

I live for myself, my children, and my partner. Those are the ones that count. If other around me do not accept me, so be it. They have nothing to do with my well-being.

They accepted you before you came out didn't they.
They should accept you now, you haven't changed as a person, your still the same.
Good Luck.

Make sure to find and surround yourself with an equal number of other people who do accept you, to offset the negative vibes of those who don't.

I don't care what people think about my "sexual orientation". I care what people think about me as a "person".

That's why I try to be on my best behavior at all times, brush tree times daily and do what I'm told to do in bed or sling.
