I was at the AFC championship game this week. At halftime Darryl Worley comes out and starts singing "Have you forgotten". I was shocked to hear such as sad song at such a happy event.
I felt like it was fake. I just wondered why the NFL would play such a controversial song at an AFC Championship game.

Why not Garth......I don't even like country but the guy rocks.....Or even Gretchen Wilson.........she's super hot. Why so depressing....That game is played so we get our minds of that stuff for a few minutes....The troops don't need our support now, they are trying to stay alive........They need it after this war is over and people forget...like they always do.

Wow, you were at that game? Cool.. you picked a good one to go to!

Country music is huge right now, and does appeal to a wide range of people. Worley is very popular, and patriotic.

I don't watch halftime shows (since they never talk about football any more), but in recent years, with Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake, Paul MacCartney, the Rolling Stones, and Prince this year, I wouldn't say that the NFL "caters" to country music fans (didn't Aerosmith perform at halftime one year, I forgot?).

I like MacCartney, the Stones and Aerosmith (don't like Jackson/Timberlake or Prince though), but the fact is, you don't need ANY musical acts to play during half time. It's the Super Bowl, for crying out loud... who the hell needs Prince??

Look what happens when they bring the popstars in (ie. janet jackson). Prince is playing at the superbowl. The NFL has to find music that appeals to a wide fan base, I would guess that they found Darryl Worley did that (or maybe he sang for free).
