Yes its true that men stay fertile for their whole life, but the quality of the sperm decreases and they are less likely to be able to get a woman pregnant;
As far as I'm aware no studies have been done on the children of older men to see if the child is affected;

Male's fertility declines with age.

A study concluded that the male fertility decreases by 2% annually every year for a man over the age of 24. This means a male over the age of 70 have very less chances of being able to impregnate a woman.

However, though rarely, healthier men over ninety years could still be able to produce healthy babies.

Men are fertile their entire life unless they have a reproduction disorder. Many men are capable of producing children in the 90s and up.
