Uses:
Do you like listening to your car or home radio? Thank radio waves.
Do you like putting food into a little box, pressing a few buttons, waiting til the box beeps and you get to take out a hot meal? Thank microwaves.
The whole communications industry: cell phones, satellite, etc--all a combination of microwaves and radiowaves depending upon the device.
Ever had a broken bone? Ever had a medical or dental exam that involved an X-ray?
Like seeing? Thank the "visible" spectrum.
Dangers:
Extended gamma ray radiation can cause severe mutations or cancers in biological organisms--i.e. us humans. In fact, too much of any radiation can make this happen, even those helpful X-rays. Too much light, or more precisely too intense light can damage human eyes. This is why one should not look directly at the Sun for extended periods.
