Caste exists in India, despite the law and preachings. It shows that it serves some social purpose. Caste as an institution, serves an important role in match-fixing at the time of marriage for son or a daughter. Here, among the Hindus, the marriages are arranged. Even among the low castes, the match is arranged among the caste. All those who are very modern and otherwise not conscious about the caste, look for caste, at the time of seeking alliance for their children.

Obviously its not right. Caste system was introduced at least 5000 years back in our society to bring discipline. That's not viable now. Later on we have modified the system and made it worst day by day.
Many of us do not believe in caste system, however the effort from government and other social organisation are contradictory. Here in our country for all application we need to fill up religion and caste. A school can say its "secular" one but still asks about religion at the time of admission. Mondal commission was another cause of trouble.

Cast system practiced wrongly today is not right at the present modern circumstances.
The caste system, called as Varnashrama Dharma consisiting of four social order, viz., Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras and the four spiritual orders, viz., Brahmachary, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sannyasa is very natural in all the society. We find an intelligent class of men(Brahmanas),
military people(Kshatriyas), commercial men(Vaishyas) and manual laborers(Shudras). In every country we see these above four kinds of people are present which is natural.
But at the present time the above system(Varnashrama system) which was scientifically based on the quality and work of a person as per the Vedas(veda means knowledge) has become spoiled as caste system in modern times based on one's birth.
For example, if a son of a judge or doctor becomes a judge or doctor judge based only on his being the son of a judge or doctor is not right. But anybody can be a judge or doctor based on his acquiring the quality of the judge or doctor.
Lord Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad gita, chapter 4,text 13,
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the nondoer, being unchangeable.
So, it can be said that the actual pure varnashrama system (now mistakenly called as caste system) based on one's nature and work is good and makes one advance spiritually in god realization
Whereas the corrupted casted system based on one's birthright alone is not only right but leads to chaos in the society.

I feel there are two sides of each coin.Caste system on the bases of work is right but not on the basis of birth.Long time ago caste system was invovled in india on the basis of work.It increase efficeicy and effectiveness and give an unique identity but as time passes basis of system changed so it is wrong in present time.

Mais Oui, no !!!
No. Caste system only creates disintegration, degradation and dis-unity in the society. Our aim as a citizen is to bind it into one society although we belong to different states.
Therefore, caste system should be removed completely.

no its not ...becoz whenpeople ask u about caste it feels like they are differentiating beetweent humans and animals .i mean whats the point we are humans anyway rite and u don go about talking to people knowing what caste they are or what caste their ancestors were...i mean its all just orthodox stuff.........like if people talked about buicks we would say what the heck we are going in sports cars and convertibles similarly if we talk abt color and caste people we just say we have got over such kind of racism......
