No. We like it this way.
Hell, I'm still waiting to hear the other side of the story from the terrorists! Has ANYBODY heard their side of the story yet?

I don't count the media as one side of any story. They are simply too biased and too untrustworthy to deliver quality information and analysis.
I look to other sources for "both sides". Actually there are often more than two sides, and it helps to be aware of them.
For politics, I listen to conservatives rant all day long on the radio, I listen to Bill Oreilly for a "middle of the road" observation, and I await intelligent liberal viewpoints. They are extremely rare--they are almost always pure emotion.
Brit Hume tries to offer both sides, but he has mostly conservatives and moderates. Still waiting for a good liberal source.
(I get international news at Google all the time. I always read from Korean, Philippine and Arab papers. Others, like the BBC and the Guardian are worthless even as parrot cage liners.)

I try to take into consideration every possible side of any given situation. I consider myself to be a rather intelligent, unbiased and logical individual. Most of the people that I am around or come into contact with also seem to be rather logical and intelligent in my community. I watch international news via satellite and I find it to be very close to what I see on the majority of American news channels.
I find it so amusing that most people who insult the awareness of the American public are so very often the most narrow-minded and closed-minded people around.
Haven't you ever heard " what you most hate about other people is YOUR biggest fault " ? It's basic psychology. So perhaps you are not taking both sides into consideration. Maybe when you just try to assume that most Americans are naive, and you're somehow more aware or intelligent, you are wrong. Ever considered that?

Perhaps. But maybe you shouldn't generalize all Americans. Quite a few DO watch international news and keep abreast of the happenings elsewhere in the world. I think that it's a generalization and ill-informed to call "Americans so naive in their understanding of others"... and it sounds as though you're rather naive in your understanding of Americans.

Because the international press is actually worse than the American media. I think it was the BBC that actually admitted that they slant their stories in secular progressive view. I'll give them credit they had the guts to admit it, but they aren't exactly unbiased. Besides, when a group or country is trying to destroy you, I don't really care why. If you want to start a war with us, then we'll be glad to finish you off.

Your being a little naive in your stereo typing and more naive in your judgment..news papers such as the Washington post and the New york times among others are considered the best news information in the world..not to mention most international wire services are based in America....!

I trust our media much more than the media in countries where freedom of speech isn't allowed. I think that Americans try to take other peoples sides into consideration but it's hard to care when they act out like little children rather than talk like rational and intelligent human beings. I think both sides would better get their point across if they stopped acting like little children throwing temper tantrums and causing chaos. I think people lose their patience and willingness to listen when people get violent and stupid.

Americans are raised to take sides start with :White VS Indians, Black VS White,South VS North, then Protestant VS Catholic, and list go down to sports which team is my dad team , which school is my dad school. America is a melting pot of contradictions where the real education is the missing part. Most Americans do not even vote and when they do they vote what the media tells them who is the winning side Americans do not vote for losers sides.Americans think they have free media most are owned by lobbyists. Maybe c-span maybe.

"The strong man is not the good wrestler; the strong man is only the one who controls himself when he is angry." ~ Muhammad
I agree with the above person who said that it's hard to listen when people are being violent and have motives that aren't righteous. And claim that they are acting out because of religious reasons.
"Shall I not inform you of a better act than fasting, alms, and prayers? Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots." ~ Muhammad

Every one should strive to look at the situation from both sides.
International news helps one to see how others percieve things.
But it can also be biased.
People in general need more understanding and less judgement.
