Now you have bought your disc online it will be registered with the DVLA that you have tax for your car. This means that you can't be done for having No tax.
However if you drive your car without a current tax disc in the window you could still be done for failing to display a tax disc that is in date. For this I think you get a fixed penalty. It really depends on the person that stops you as to whether they accept your excuse or not.
I have just purchased my disc online to run from the end of the month and it only took 2 days to arrive in the post. They are really efficient at getting them to you so you may not be long without a disc.
Hope this helps :-)))

It depends if your old tax disc has expired. It is a legal requirement to have a valid tax disc on display in the vehicle. Therefore, if your old tax disc has expired then strictly speaking you are driving illegally. However, if you have proof that you have purchased a new disc you MAY get away with it - but that will be up to the discretion of the police. The fact you have bought a new one doesn't mean you WILL get away with it.
Bear in mind that driving a car illegally may also invalidate your insurance. So if you are driving without a valid tax disc and have an accident, you could be in much deeper trouble.

There is an offence of 'using a motor car on the road whilst failing to display a current excise license' . The police do not procecute any tax disc offences they are reported to the DVLA who decide on wether to procecute or not.....if you have purchased a disc on line you should be ok. Hope this helps

Yes you can, just as long as you have proof of purchase.
The DVLA will have record that you have paid so you should be fine.
