I'm curious to know what you as a teen enjoyed or enjoy reading. It would be good if your put a sentance or 2 in brackets about the book.
Thankyou! :)

Gosh, that's hard. I love YA books and enjoyed quite a few as a teen. Let's see:

Confess-O-Rama (a boy meets and befriends wild and crazy girl; very funny stuff)

Crooked (about friendship and bullying that gets out of hand)

Cut (a very serious book about self-mutilation, which is happening a lot around the country to teens)

Kissing Doorknobs (a great book about a girl with OCD)

Leaving Fishers (a wonderful, engrossing novel about a girl who gets sucked up into a Christian cult)

You Don't Know Me (probably my favorite YA book- funny, ironic, sweet, absolutely captures the teen life and outlook)

The Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor (no girl should grow up without Alice and her friends and their experiences)

The China Garden (a romantic mystery where a girl's mom moves them to England to be housekeeper for a recluse)

The Year They Burned the Books (brilliant stuff about hatred, bigotry, and fighting it in a small town)

Asylum for Nightface (a trippy, freaky book that is nonetheless very cool)

How I Paid for College by Mark Acito (a little too much sex for teens, but probably the most hilarious book I've ever read. Ever.)

Those are a few to get you started. Happy reading!

You could try The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. The work was first published in 1967, when the author was 17 years old. The novel tells the story of a recently orphaned 14 year old boy in urban Tulsa, OK, and explores themes such as friendship and class conflict. The book made the New York Heralds Best Teenage Books List the same year it was published and has continued to receive recognition as a great young adult/teen work. I read it in 8th grade, and really enjoyed it.

Darren Shan's saga - Cirque du Freak (All 3 billion books in this saga are very gripping. Who knew vampires could be so leechy?)

Harry Pottah (Read these after watching the movie so that you can relate the actors to the characters)

His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman (classic! I've always wanted a daemon)

Lor o' da ring (The best of the best, lasto beth nin!)

Jurassic Park + Lost World by Michael Crichton (Roughly 39214.99 times better than the movies -which were superb!)

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
(Amulet of Samirkand, The Golom's Eye, Ptolemy's Gate)

It's about a boy who is learning to become a magician and summon spirits from another realm.

It is a good book to read, some chapters are from the mind of Bartimaeus who is a wise cracking Demon from the other place. The other chapters are following Nathaniel and are from the voice of the narrator.

Some parts are slow to progress, but the trilogy ends well and with a good message to readers.

Recent teen books I've loved are:

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. [Wonderful action/romance novel about a human girl who falls in love with a vampire who craves her blood.]

The Mediator Series by Meg Cabot [Series of 6 books about a girl who can speak, touch and hear ghosts. As a mediator her job is to find out why their spirits continue to linger and help them move on. Unfortunately not all of the ghosts want to go.]

Peeps by Scott Westerfeld [If vampirism were a virus could it become an epidemic? This is the story of a virus carrier and his part in trying to control the disease from taking over the world.]

The Georgia Nicolson books (Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging) [Absolutely hilarious books about a Brit teen and her trials in the realms of school, love and friendship]

Anything by Tamora Pierce - although I only discovered her recently (I'm 26...sad?) - she's a fabulous author though and appeals to both male and female readers of any age.

I work in a library, so anything interesting that comes across the desk, I'll grab. Gary Paulsen is also a great author - Hatchet was a great series. Also Garth Nix and John Marsden - brilliant writers!

"A Separate Peace"

... read it in high school ... the setting is early 1940's in an American prep school ... pretty heady stuff for teenagers to think about ... its about boys. Someone could make some time frame changes and the story would still be relevant today. Actually, no changes would be necessary; I read in in 1968.

"The Lost Boys"

... underprivileged and privileged boys misunderstood by their family, friends, girls and the law.

Every teen has their own favorite books.

Mine are:
*Harry Potter (all of the books that are out : Books 1-6)
-i think this is the book MOST teens love! The movie is great too.
*Da Vinci's Code,Angels and Demon
-by Dan Brown
*Five People you meet in Heaven
-by Mitch Albom...about a guy who died and saw the five people who became a big part of his life. (even though some of them he didnt really know personally) Great story.

**I also read BSC (baby sitters club), Goosebumps (even though they are for kids..lol) and books by Judy Blume {my favorite book by Judy is Blubber}
