Do we not learn from our mistakes..... if we do, should we not learn not to be complacent after achieving any success?

Maybe some people are not anxious or dont need to prove anything anymore or they are satisfied with what they have or maybe they are really lazy.

Complacency to others might be contentment to others or maybe laziness to others...

It's human nature to relax a little after you strive for something & then achieve it. After a success, you should feel a little pride & celebrate your accomplishment. Otherwise what is the point? You might as well enjoy the thing you've been seeking! The key is not to give up trying, not to "rest on your laurels" but to strive to meet new challenges. You are never really "done". Life is a constant struggle. This doesn't mean you never get to enjoy life, just don't get lazy & stop working on yourself. There is always more to learn, see, do, know...

I cant speak for others but I certainly learn from my mistakes

Theres many dynamics to why we become complacent:

-dont care because we've already achieved the goal
-we become uninterested
-we become tired & sleepy

Either way its very difficult to operate at 100% for !00% of the time, thats human nature

For some ... mostly kids ... you can tell them till the cows come home DONT DO THAT BECAUSE ... and they go straight out and do it then sht happens ... go figure ... with some people they dont grow out of that. Just ask 90% of the single mothers

Exactly. When I became aware of that, I wondered if it's because complacency is a kind of mental laziness that makes the lesson harder to learn. And I also believe it's the way we're educated.

Societal - we are taught not to boast and to be modest. This societal belief teaches us that to bask in our own glory is a bad thing....and what we think, say and do comes to be.
Personal - self esteem, self sabotage .... we tell ourselves that is was a fluke, by chance, can't be repeated etc
Spiritual - fear of potential. When we get a taste of the limitless that we can create, fear arises..... as it is connected with the unknown. This suppresses further achievement.

We CAN learn not to be complacent after success, but that's not the issue. The problem doesn't lie with the intellect it lies in belief, the belief needs to be altered to create lasting change.
