People in the middle east are not fighting against the west. On the contrary, middle east is being westernized. Tax is not a system of any region. It is an easy method that the rulers find to make both ends meet; To cover up their expenses in the name of the welfare. Dubai, is in the process of becoming the costliest city. The rents are skyrocketing. All expenses are going up. This is the evil of cosmopolitanism. Like Tokyo, Like New York, cost of living is going up day by day. Where is the reason for fighting against the west?

That's a reason but not a decisive one. They're fighting and resisting against the West because of their perceived Western double standards in dealing with the Muslim World in general and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in particular. And as mentioned by Meredith M, the West cant just impose their systems or standards on the Middle East and expect them to accept them immediately. Democracy for instance must be earned by the locals themselves, not imposed by any outside elements.

It is not at all limited to money that is way to close minded. For one who is to say that we american s have the best way of living in general why do we get to press it upon them? their ways are their ways we would be hesitant to change if they came into our country after so long of doing it our way of doing it and showed another. our cultures are different in way to many ways for them to accept us after just a few years.

No, I don't think so. I think most people in the Middle East are fanatics. Simple as that.
