I have a nice expensive goose down Eddie Bauer winter jacket given to me my a relative. I followed the washing instructions on it because I washed it after it got all full of rotten tree sap, but now all the goose down is balled up in places, it lost it's thickness to keep me warm in MN and it still smells like rotten tree sap! other than all that, it still seems almost new. any suggestions? besides super sarcastic ones please. thankyou

The best thing to get the down feather all over your jacket again from my experience is to soak it full of water, put it into a tumble dryer, add a tennis ball and dry it using low temperature.
We do the same procedure with down pillows and it is really awesome, the pillows expand to their original size again, the tennis ball will bounce in the tumble drier and by hitting your jacket, the down feather get loosened from each other and get equally distributed in your jacket.

The only risk that you take is that some fabric will even shrink at low temperature in the tumble dryer.

I honestly don't see Northface jackets going out of style anytime soon. Plus, they are amazing jackets and they keep you super warm and are very well made. I would go with a Northface jacket!!!

Give it to Salvation Army or Goodwill. They will make it nice again, make some unfortunate human warm and you'll feel warm and fuzzy about your act of generosity.
