other than being helpful, why do people answer questions. You get points. What do you get when you gathered enough points?

It's like some strange addiction. I think we all ask ourselves those very questions every time we do it and for myself I can't answer it. Somehow the earning of points is compelling even if its not toward anything that is necessarily rewarding.

they think its like a game, some are competetive and try to get more points then others, some are just bored and feel like answering others' questions, some try to make themselves look smart and o-so-good, and some just want to test their knowlege.

Why do people ask questions? It gives you something to do, you get small gifts every now and than.

it gives you the challenge and the thrill whether you will be getting a best answer or not? it feels good to gain more points when you know you answered sincerely/////

my sister always tell me that I like telling people what to do.... and I think this is what I do in Yahoo answers....eventhough it doesn't mean they are going to go with my answer.... but I think it is fun....
