Actually almost every problem can be attributed to ignorance and being uneducated. Education is the silver bullet to most of the world's problems including over population. Therefore I would want to educate at least 90% of the worlds population not eliminate it. After all, nearly 75% of the world was wiped out during the plague and that didn't solve a bloody thing.

no, but i'd kill 100% of the population if I was sure not 1 person survived (including myself)..As long as nobody survived to somehow populate the place again. That way it's not selfish. I don't think humans are a good thing for the Earth.

See I see your question is bound to happen to some extent without human intervention, the point is we can't complete populate the earth all of us and survive, so we will have to be diminished by some % at some point as a whole, through disease most likely, that's what happens to animals who are over-crowded (like the Earth will be by us). So we don't need to be the ones to lower it, let us overpopulate and hit hard times and maybe learn a lesson. Or evolve.

I think many things could be better with a lower population. When I think about how much I would love to live up in the mountains without having to worry about seeing others around, Yes, I would love to have the population diminished.

How would I go about that in a civil way, without discrimination, I don't think that's possible, so I for that reason, I would not. Plus, there are always going to be issues that humans perpetuate, no matter what. The desire for power is our downfall and leads to most of our problems.

Since I actually like or if you prefer love substantially more than 10% of the people in the world, there would be no possible way to lower it by 90% without affecting my loved ones.

In fact I can only think of a few people who should be helped off the mortal stage, if you know what I mean. I have a list even, of the people I shall bit if ever I contract a particularly virulent and fast acting form of rabies. But I am becoming more pacifistic as i age, and most of them seem to have died off anyway.

Well... and this is going to sound sort of like a smartypants answer at first... so bear with me...

If I didn't love 100% of the human population, including (finally) the man who killed my Dad when I was 10... I might agree with you. But there's no way I could lower the population without affecting my loved ones since I love all of them.

I didn't have this perfect love on my own. It came from Jesus working on me from the inside out after I came to know Him. I once had quite a bit of hatred and would have jumped at the chance of eliminating a few enemies. But now I want good things for the whole rest of the world, including my enemies... who have now become my loved ones (even if they don't reciprocate).

I'm sure it sounds twisted, but it's where I am.

It sounds twisted even to me, in a sense: 13 years ago, if you'd asked me... I might have agreed with you!! Thanks for asking a good question to ponder. :)

The Earth's normal human population is about 300,000,000. That is the population it supported w/o modern medicine and farming techniques. With mass sterilizations it could be achieved in one generation.

No, I wouldn't.....but I try to find an effective way to promote birth-control a lot more.
Until now it's obvious that, despite the campaigns dedicated to it, a lot of people still don't really understand, or worse, think getting pregnant happens to other women, but not to them.

That's really not up to me, so I wouldn't. That 90% all have their own loved ones who wouldn't want to be included in the ones eliminated.

If you were talking criminals, those answering would have another think coming. Talk about what happened with Noah and the Ark...

yeah i'd probably do it. why not? maybe i could live off the land and not have to have a crappy job. and the human race is terrible. the less of us, the better .. except for the people i know and love. people i don't love are useless to me and most people are morons.
