I can't help but wonder if people would feel differently if it was Patrick Dempsey that had used the SLUR. Not because he is white and Isiah is black, but because everyone is SO in LOVE with McDreamy that they might not be as HARSH as they are being on Isiah. Now don't get me WRONG, I am NOT condoning DISCRIMINATION, I just have to wonder if ALL the sides of this story are being represented FAIRLY! Tell me what you think.

I was disheartened to hear of the altercation that happened on the set of Grey's Anatomy between Isaiah Washington and Patrick Dempsey back in October, but it seemed that the situation was an isolated incident, and that apologies had been made to the appropriate persons ( i.e Mr. Dempsey and T.R. Knight).

So you can imagine my shock at Mr. Washington's comments at the Golden Globes. It seems that Mr. Washington either has no concern for the show and his co-workers, or the incident that happened in October was NOT an isolated incident, and Mr. Washington does in fact feel predjudice towards homosexuals that he feels he is free to express. I find this kind of bigoted behavior particularly concerning from a man who could himself be considered a minority at risk of predjudice. I must assume he has led a life free of scorn, ridcule, and baseless predjudice upon his person. He's lucky. 99% of us aren't so lucky.

I am not gay, but I do not tolerate bigotry of any kind. I would be the first fan to stand up and be counted as a defender of Mr. Washington should he have been the victim of ignorant, bigoted name calling. But considering what Mr. Washington has done not only is offensive, but could be deemed illegal per the federal and state EEOC, I feel ABC has no choice but to fire him.

I would much rather see the character of Burke be written out of the show for good than to see his face in my living room ever again.

No he shouldnt. Its all about free thought. What if some famous gay person like Rupert Everret used the word breeder slurring an hetrosexual person? As a straight conservative American male of course I would be offended. But he has a right to think what he wants to and say something as long as he doesent overtly call for bigotry, hatred or actual acts against a person. If we dont allow free thought we are as bad as those on the other side of the issue. I noticed people of certain groups will also call each other by these slurs and not much is said by their leaders against this.Politcal Correctness is so stupid if you ask me. You cant say this or that if you are of a certain politcal ilk but someone else can and its perfectly fine.It makes me think of that ancient Chinese curse "May You Live In Interesting Times". We are trully living in "Interesting Times" when someone cant even make a stupid mistake without someone wanting to fire them or make them pay a fine or go to "Sensitivity Classes" simply because they have a different line of thought than another person. I'm the last person on earth who'd condone bigotry being that as a teenager and as a young child I faced it from other kids due to my learning disability. But if we squelch freedom of thought its opening a Pandora's Box that might hurt a lot of people it didnt intend to. Remember folks six million innocent Jewish lives were snuffed out along with millions of Christians,Trade Unionists,Mental patients, etc simply because of what Adolph Hitler and his Nazi cronies considered "Pollitically Correct" Dont even get me started on the evils perpetrated by the likes of Pol Pot,Stalin, Idi Amin,Mao,Hussein and other despots throughout history. We just need to be carefull you know what I'm saying? If Mr Washington directed it at a certain someone they should work it out between each other as opposed to this being trotted out in public.I'll step off of my soapbox and see what others say.

It's so funny that all of Isiah's defenders are going on and on about "freedom" and how he has the right to do/say whatever he wants, but should ABC exercise their "freedom" and get rid of his character, they would be deemed as oppressive. Had TR Knight said "ni66er" nobody in their right mind would defend his right to say it. The whole thing is sickening and I for one will not watch the show as long as Isiah is on it. He;s a disgrace not just to his race but to the human race.

WEll I believe since the relationship between cristina and burke isn't going so hot and heavy that he should have to as a character comeout of the closet, and maybe walk a mile in another persons shoes? Or do some volunteer work for Same sex Charities and have some sensitivity training

Of course he should be fired. Actors and actresses are completely expendable. It's not as if he's someone important, such as a firefighter, nurse, or teacher.

This birdbrain's apology was particularly amusing when he said that he has some personal issues regarding his attitude toward gays that he needs to resolve. Who wrote that line for you, moron? By the way: 99% of apologies are disingenuous. Washington's apology was within that 99%. This clown isn't sorry at all.

It will be interesting to see how it will play out. If you were in any other field or industry you would be fired on the spot. Most employers wont put up with people who are racist or not team players. But then again this is Hollywood. This was not an incident in his own home, but an event where his employer and coworkers were, no excuse, keep your racists comments to yourself in your own home, not the workplace.

It's truly amazing to me to see how so many of you presume to judge and pass sentence on others so cavalierly...remember when we used to have the right of free speech, thought, and expression? There once was a time when Americans could express themselves without the "thought police" dragging them off to the gulag. No one has the right to NOT be offended!

i don't think one way or another way he said,, I think he should be booted off the show because of his shitty attitude.. he seems to think he should be up in salary with Dempsey,, he is not as well known or liked like Patrick is,, I liked him when the show started and then didn't like him and then again gave him another LIKE but now I'm sick of the attitude.... " just my opinion" the show can live with or without him either way its a good show

a white guy who said the N word probably would have been fired...

i don't care if isaiah washington is fired or not. that show sucks anyway. but he seems like a jerk to me. he hated that gay guy for no reason, and there's nothing wrong with being gay.

Yes he should, we need to start setting examples for hate crimes or it will continue in america to go on. This was not a smart move on his part and he needs to own up to what he did.
