NEW DELHI. Jan 22: Just a day after India's winning performance at Nagpur, Indian coach Greg Chappell was on Monday attacked by an unidentified man at the Bhubaneshwar airport when the team arrived there for its next match against West Indies in Cuttack on January 24.

According to TV reports, the unidentified man, assumed to be a Kalinga Sena activist slapped the Indian coach apparently in protest against the non-inclusion of some Orissa players in the team.

The man was subsequently arrested.

Though Chappell is not reported to be hurt, the incident assumes importance in the wake of intelligence reports of terrorists planning to attack an India-West Indies ODI venue, which has put the state police on high alert.

According to preliminary reports, Chappell was hit on the back by the person when he, along with the team, arrived at the airport.

BCCI’s vice-president Rajeev Shukla was reported as saying that the board was questioning the security arrangements made by the Orissa Police.

BCCI president Sharad Pawar is likely to speak with Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.

I don't think he's scared. His words simply mean that there is no dearth of cricketing talent in India whereas currently Australia is in need of it. Also he might have noticed during his short tenure that several deserving players are not given international caps to prove themselves in India.
