Sorry, novangelis, your 5 * 10^16 is out by a factor of 10.

Take 14.7 lbs of air per square inch of surface.

Radius R = 3960 miles = 2.509 * 10^8 inches
Area 4 * pi * R^2 = 7.911 * 10^17 square inches
Weight = 1.163 * 10^19 lbs = 5.19 * 10^15 imperial tons.

You could say that's 5.2 trillion kilotons, but it's a peculiar unit.

Composition of
dry atmosphere, by volume[2] ppmv: parts per million by volume

Gas Volume
Nitrogen (N2) 780,840 ppmv (78.084%)
Oxygen (O2) 209,460 ppmv (20.946%)
Argon (Ar) 9,340 ppmv (0.9340%)
Carbon dioxide (CO2) 383 ppmv (0.0383%)
Neon (Ne) 18.18 ppmv
Helium (He) 5.24 ppmv
Methane (CH4) 1.745 ppmv
Krypton (Kr) 1.14 ppmv
Hydrogen (H2) 0.55 ppmv
Not included in above dry atmosphere:
Water vapor (H2O) typically 1% to 4%(highly variable)

Minor components of air not listed above include:

Gas Volume
nitrous oxide 0.5 ppmv
xenon 0.09 ppmv
ozone 0.0 to 0.07 ppmv
nitrogen dioxide 0.02 ppmv
iodine 0.01 ppmv
carbon monoxide trace
ammonia trace

here are my research.. hope it can help you! maybe if you add it and change it into kilotons, you'll get what you want!

Ballpark number:
Mass = Pressure x area / g
101.3 kPa x 510,065,600 km² / 9.8m/s²
1,013,000 kg/ms² x 5.10x10^8 km² / 9.8m/s²
1.013x10^6 kg/ms² x 5.10x10^14 m² / 9.8m/s²
5.27x10^19kg
5.27x10^16Mg = 5.27x10^16 metric tons
4.79x10^16 tons
