Hi there...oddly enough I've pondered this (having way too much time philosophizing and theorizing) and have come to the conclusion that it could very well be that since the act of vomiting is such a violent action of involuntary expulsionary force pets may find carpeting more stable so that they don't slip. This is...of course only just a theory.

I look forward to hearing some answers on this subject. I guess maybe it's because they prefer standing on carpet rather than hard flooring or linoleum, or they just want to tick us off. It never fails, does it?

Usually they are sleeping on the carpet or when they walk through the house they are walking on the carpet or sleeping on the sofa and they do not have it in them to think"I have to throw up, let me move off the carpeting."

So I am not the only one to which this happens! I hve even tried gently moving my cat to the hard floor and he'll move back to the carpet.

It must be because it is softer under their feet. You have to feel badly for the poor little guys, Vomitting is no fun for anyone.

I think they preplan for this event...They know if they puke on the floor, it would be way to easy to clean up...If they puke on the carpet, or as mine do on their pillows, more words come out of our mouth...not good ones...I dont know LOL I'll ask my dog and get back to you on this one...LOL

If its a cat then it is easier for the to re-eat it. Gross I know but that is mostly why. That hard floor is harder for them eat off of.

I dont know about dogs.

because it's absorbent and they feel like they wont be in as much trouble when their owner finds it.
