It is very unhealthy, as the TV programs are dramatic and sensationalised to increase viewership, and excessive viewing from a very young age leads to unreal perception of the world as aptly mentioned by you. Since a child tends to accept the environment in which he grows up as truth, which becomes the basis for his future comparisons and opinions, unless he is exceptionally intelligent, still it might be too late till he realises.

Nowadays programs are increasingly based on temptation and human weaknesses and spiced up to increase viewership due to the false pressure of competition, they are unfortunately not based on quality of content, truth and education like in the earlier years. The media has conveniently forgotten its responsibilty, due to the power of influence it has on society.

Sex sells is the mantra the media is using nowadays as is everybody else and as a result the society and media are increasingly getting sexed up resulting in frustrated males, leading to restlessness, distrust, jealousy, greed, anger, violence, robbery, murder, rape in the society .

I disagree to certain a point.
My brother watches a lot of t.v, and of course he watches mtv, bet, fox and all these fantasy world shows like laguna beach and fox news..but in the end knows reality from fantasy. He also watches plenty of informative chanels and really learns a lot...

There is so much competition with cable and sattelite companys right now, that a lot of them will offer packages with chanels that best suit your interest..just call them and ask them what chanels you can get like discovery times, history, animal planet, bbc news, kqed..e.t.c ...T.v is only bad if you make it bad...just like the internet.

I prefer it to video games if I had a choice. There's still some very good programs on Discovery, History and TLC. My son picks up new stuff everytime he watches Animal Planet. He picks up nothing from games.

It is not bad to watch TV itself but what matters is what kind of programmes one watches on the TV.

Of course it's healthy! What could be healthier for a kid than zoning out for 8 hours a day in front of a glowing, talking, flashing panarama of sex, violence, and junk food salesmen? I mean, look how much more worldly and knowledgeable kids are about sex, violence and junk food than we were when we were kids.

in case you say that consorting with atheists is incorrect then it is likewise incorrect for a Hindu to stay hand in hand with a muslin or christian or Jain.. who've additionally in many things of life insulted different cultures...announcing that it is likewise in the character of Hindu's to compliment their faith whilst it includes a debate, yet atheists purely question the manners in how a faith is practiced!!! it incredibly isn't any longer that infants in recent times do no longer take recommendation of sensible previous men, yet have accelerated their international previous their superficial ideals.

I agree with you. I don't think it's healthy that we are all watching so much TV lately.
Kids need to go outside and interact with other kids.
