of europe here and you have to deal with it. Have we not ourselves created a problem becuase we did not deal with the background racial issues of post war europe?

But Caleb is it not like sending a so called problem away, they were given irsrael partially becuase europe didn't want them which was wrong, and the after the war the holocaust was pronounced wrong but not the continued mistrust and hatred of the Jewish people so I say again, did the west do this to avoid dealing with a bigger issue.

Yes,it was wrong...Israel was created without caring that on that land Arabs were living for centuries...Creating Israel was not the right solution for the Jews, nor for the Palestinians...it only caused many more problems...It caused a conflict that is going on for 60 years and we don't see many chances of solving it in the near future...It was wrong to created Israel there,as it would be wrong to create it in any other place...
Let's remember that the Jews were not the only victims of the Holocaust, but none of the others asked for a country of their own because they were being discriminated...As gypsies, gays continued to live in Europe,so could the Jews that went to Palestine...

Who owns the land? Could it be the Jews who were in Jerusalem in the time of Christ? How do we determine ownership? First come, first served? If so it is plain who the land "belongs" to.Also,in the WWII era everyone disliked the Jews, even the US.Before we could go a long way toward helping Europe past that,we would have needed to be better. At the start the Germans were content to rob, beat, and deport German Jews. They would have continued to do this no doubt except for one problem. They couldnt find a country willing to take them, including the US. They toyed with the idea of setting up a Jewish "super ghetto" in the French colonial territory of Madagascar, but they dismissed it is impractical. As they continued to roll all over Europe they eventually came up with a different plan, and it's sad. Why? Because just like the war itself it could have been stopped, had the western allies the courage to do it.More people have been killed in the name of religion than for any other reason in history.

When the Jewish people were put there, it was basically waste land!! Since then they have planted trees and developed the area... The Arabs were given 98 percent of the land they wanted... That was not enough... You have to remember that the land was not the Arabs at the time any way. After Europe pulled there soldiers out, immediately six different Arab nations attacked Israel.. Ever since Israel has given away land for peace, and has been attacked by terrorists.. There are not really any Hebrew people in Israel who have not been affected by terrorism.. Also after the holocaust there were so many Jewish people with out homes.. They had to go some where. Most countries have limits as to how many immigrants are allowed to come in.. almost all countries were maxed out as far as allowing people to come in.. So where else should they have gone?? they really did not have any options...Also there was no Palestine in 1947... As well as that they did not displace an Arabs.. No one had to move because the Jewish people were arriving. In fact all Arabs living in the area were offered citizenship. To this day there are many Arabs that are citizens of Israel because they lived in the area when Israel became a nation...

We were very wrong. It was a shame what happened to jews during the holocaust, but why should Palestinians suffer because we felt a little guilty. So now they live in camps, the middle east is in a constant state of war, and the US and the west suffer attacks because of their support of Israel. It was a big mistake to push Palestinians off of their land. There won't be peace for a long time until Israel stops being so stubborn and one minded when it comes to negotiations.

It was partly the fault of Europe as zionism wasn,t a popular movement until the early 20th Century. Anti semitism and the onset of world war 2 caused many secular Jews to become zionist and emigrate to Palestine.

If you can't protect them, let them protect themselves.
Probably that had the British in mind when pushing Israel to life.
Keep in mind that the Europeans (not only Germans) where all along the biggest threat to Jews, not Arabs.
From a political standpoint, Israel was and is a good solution for Europe: you have a good ally in the Near East, low intensity war always going on (sorry, peace is not good for business), anti-semites are calm, and problem is closed.
Was it "right" or "just" to Palestine? Of course not, but... welcome to high politics.
