I'm trying to compare and contrast the following touring bikes:
Yahama Midnight Venture, Honda Goldwing, BMW K Series, HD Electra Glide, and Kawasaki Nomad.
It's like trying to compare apples to oranges and birds to bees.

I have never heard any much about the Yamaha tour bike other then they lack the get-up and go power.
I'm not a fan of the BMW's because of repair and maintenance costs and almost falls true with the HOG, now that is my opinion. Harley's Will cost about 30 big ones for a full dresser.
Goldwings have been the leader for years when it comes to the serious touring rider hand down.
Kawasaki Vulcan's have been on top of the "BIG" cruiser bikes for some years, thou not a real big fan of the Nomad it comes stock with all the extras. I myself own a Vulcan 2000FI and truly enjoy it. I tell people it like a Caddy with the top down and doors removed. I have rode that bike across the country without a sore bone in my body.
I have been looking into a new bike and it's a coin toss between a, Goldwing (no airbag please) @ $25,000.00 for an '07 or another Vulcan Classic 2000 (bags & shield, etc.) @ $15,000.00. It all depends upon trade in on my bike.
Yesterday I received a email from Polaris and there new 2007 is a very exzotic looking machine, check out there web site. I'll see it at the up comming bike show but I'd also like to read some pros & cons on it before I'd give some serious thought.
Read some magazine test, talk with some other riders. I hope this information was helpful, just take your time and you'll have a bike you'll enjoy for years and or miles to come.

If Price is your deciding factor than a used Kawi Nomad will save the most money and deliver the most features but will be the least popular and less updated in the cruiser/touring bike. Great bikes, but bland. If you can swing the ching, consdier The Harley Heritage Softtail, Road King Classic or Road Glide. These bike offer versality and the Bling/culture that will last for generations.
On the other hand, Yamaha has stepped up to the plate with thier Road Star for a lil less but you will looking for riding brothers and sisters to hang with.

It's somewhat personal preference. That being said, my choice would be the BMW first, then Honda. I'd recommend going and looking at each, sitting on it, seeing what feels good, seeing what you like as far as balance, etc., looking at prices, and then figuring out what fits your riding style and budget.
I like the BMW for their perfomance - I can get a touring bike with all the comfort, but with lots of perfomance when i get in that mood. I like Honda, primarily for their dealers, and availability of parts and accessories, but also for the ride and the user groups.

If you're gonna go, then go American First Class.
Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide.
Anything else is just a motorcycle.

the cheapest is kawasaki
how about the FJR 1300 yamaha sport tourer.i would have to
say the honda and bmw are more expensive than the harley
you have to decide.
