My 5 month old has been sleeping through the night for almost a month now. The way my husband and I got her to sleep through the night was to start a flexible schedule during the day for feedings to prevent "on demand" feedings, and helping her learn how to put herself to sleep. We learned to put her down when she cued sleepiness (BEFORE she was falling asleep in your arms) - ie: fussiness, bobbly head control, and some yawns. To help minimize startling noises, we have a cd player with some classical "little Einsteins" lullaby music turned low on repeat. Then, we normally made sure to feed her every 3 hours during the day, giving her about an hour and a half nap between feedings. We also tried a larger bottle before bed, but found out that it didn't make that much of a difference. Then in the dead of night, when she'd wake up, give her an all-business feeding. No cooing, no special stuff, just a bottle, and every day ween back on the amount you feed her. I like to just keep her in her room for that feeding, which will inevitably happen again during teething. Now she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night and if she does, she falls right back asleep like you or I would. Hope that helps!

many 6 month old's don't sleep through the night. this is normal. if your baby needs to feed in the middle of the night, there's not much you can do about it. but i would try a bedtime routine. it worked great for our daughter. i would feed her rice cereal and a fruit (only if your baby is at this stage) then we would give her a bath with the calming soap for babies, then right after the bath a massage with the calming lotion, fresh diaper, and a book. then she would take her bottle and we would rock and sing a lullaby. then we would say goodnight to everything and say prayers (or whatever you do) and then lay her in her own bed in her own room, and turn on a radio softly. she is in bed around 8pm and sleeps until 6am or later. she has been sleeping through the night since 12 weeks. but this is my daughter. all babies are different. but establishing a good bedtime routine now will hopefully make the toddler years easier. if your baby is teethin, apply some orajel to the gums right before bed. if your baby wakes up during the night, give him 10-15 mins, this will help the baby learn how to put themselves back to sleep. but if the baby cries longer than that, they may be hungry. feed them, and right back to bed. good luck.

Rocking. Let them sleep with you if there is a separation issue. Narrow down why they aren't sleeping. Is their diet high in sugar? Do you give him/her soda-pop?

Children will set their own clocks. At 6 months they usually still need to eat during the night. Remember, they are developing at a fast fast fast rate. They require more nutrients. Thus, more eating.

If it's an issue of YOU needing more sleep and the infant is interfering with that, get your partner to help out. If that's not an option, nap when the baby naps in the evening or afternoon. Don't try to get things done when the baby is napping. You nap too.

Try giving a feed around the time you go to bed, hopefully that is pretty late.wake her if necessary and see how that goes. Some bubs don't sleep through until 11-12 months old.Luck of the draw soemtimes, but there might be a reson why.go over your routine on paper, you might be surprised how much naps bub is having through the day.

Make sure they are really full before he/she goes to bed.

Also try to do alot of physical activity throughout the day to tire he/she out.

You can try giving solids now, that should fill he/she up that little bit more and hopefully help them sleep through the night.

Farex is a good start.
