Some women want to feel the pain of it all. If your labor pain's are very light, and moderate than it's good to have the baby natural. A drug free delivery is better on the baby, and less chance of something going wrong. Some women are allergic to some anesthesias. The older you are the less chance that you will go natural. Mild sedatives work good if you have moderate pain. out of my 5 I birthed I had meds to help kill my pain. My pain was severe with 3 out the 5. I say thank goodness for pain medications.

they say women move into a new space of being a woman and some feel they are more empowered by the experience plus some women don't need medications. most drugs for pain cross over the placenta and cause a sleepy baby when he/she is born so then they have a harder time adjusting to birth and may need a medication called narcan to ride themselves of the medication if they are born soon after the medication was given

Sometimes you have no choice. With my last two the epidural wore off because of the way I was positioned. If you lay just right for too long the epidural will wear off. I was having contractions too bad to have another one put in so I had to go natural. It really is not that bad. If it was that bad women woudl sto having babies. It's not like the pain will kill you.

I respect everyones right to choose how they deliver. What I could not get over during my time as a nurse in maternity was the abject fialure soem women flet if they needed a ceasar or even pain relief during a vaginal deliv. It is a down right painful experience wher you can start to feel you have no control over what is happening, bub is coming out wether you've changed your mind or not LOL pain relief often helps that feeling of loss of control and you can "enjoy" (lol) the experience.
i really don't believe it is worth feeling like a failure over. What have they failed at???
