Step number one is to open the windows, vacuum (be sure the vacuum bag is new or close to it), and keep the windows open for 10 minutes while the dust settles/blows out the window. (-: It's the middle of winter in the northern hemi, but I try to open the windows for a few minutes a day, anyway.
If that doesn't help, you could try getting some pollution removing plants, like peace lily and spider plants. But you will have to shower them at least once a week. They may also promote mold growth.
If that doesn't help, toss the plants, clean the room thoroughly and get a dust filtering machine.
Dust does come back, so you need to make dusting and vacuuming part of your weekly schedule. Daily, if need be.
Good luck!

There are many forms of air purifiers.
Ionizers work by ionizing dust particles. I am not too sure how effective it is for dust though.
Filters work by, well filtering, dust particles. It is effective as long as you keep the filters clean (replacement or cleaning). There is a standard of filter called HEPA. If you see this, it means that it is very professional and probably cost more.
There are some machines that filters the air through water. This has the benefit of simple replacement of the filter (just change the water). AND you get to see the dirty water and feel good that it is not in your lungs.
If you have a medical problem with dust, like an allergy, please contact your GP (doctor) for a recommendation for a more professional air filter.
I hope that helps.

Clean it or buy an air cleaner. It won't get rid of all the dust. I wish! Honeywell sells a good air cleaner. It's great to run when you are cooking with a lot of garlic and such.

its not the air its your room. You need to open the windows and vacuum the floor. Make sure your vacuum cleaner doesnt spill out just as much dust as it sucks in!
