I tried The Doors and I liked it. Not so famous, not so crowded, good looking & nice products.

Get out of the city centre to the suburbs.
There was a fantastic one i was a regular at back in 2000. It was just off Kinker straat on a road (if i remember and the street map is still upto date) called Jan Pieter Heije straat. If you get either a number 7 or 17 tram from Central Station and ride untill a big long straight road with shops (this is Kinker Straat) and jump off at the bottom of this road, before it turns right over a lifting bridge.
It was a morrocan/turkish theme.
Beer, weed and lots of floor cushions to chill on.

I would not go for the Bulldog. It is the most famous, but I doubt it fits your preferences. Maybe the Nes. or the the Route 99

The Bulldog is the most famous and touristy. It depends on what you want--music and crowds, dark with fewer people? Ask a local when you get there.

BABA's!!! Very cool and actually one of the easiest places to find "space cakes". Spent a lot of time there.
