Well I don't know if a 6 year old is going to want to know about keratin, but its the same stuff that hair and fingernails are made out of.

Contrast with chitin which is what insect shells are made from.

bone on the inside and the color on the outside is made from the same thing your fingernails are made out of. (keratinized scutes)
If you want to show them that, take a turtle shell (no turtle inside) and scrap away part of the outer layer. The scute will flake off and there will be a whitish colored bone underneath.

nicely, after examining your question, I pulled out my guitar to work out precisely how I relax my hand while identifying on for solos or despite. in certainty, maximum ordinarily, I relax the heel of my hand(in basic terms the tiny little spot on the exterior facet the place the little around bone of your hand is) on the very top factor of the back of the bridge. (this is on a Fender Strat bridge. same for the Gibson song-o matic bridge.on my different guitar. Your hand rests in basic terms in the back of the E string on the bridge, very gently. once you could %. the E string, then your hand will pass of its own accord off the string so it is not muted. you will no longer even word it. once you %., in basic terms be certain you carry the %. with a stiff thumb and not in any respect flex the thumb to navigate the strings. Your identifying on stroke could consistently be a wrist action,.( I used to bend my thumb to pass up and down the strings for the 1st 5 years of enjoying, then I took some instructions to strengthen my soloing, and that replaced into the 1st factor my instructor observed replaced into incorrect with my technique.)
