I'm sorry Bush. But I think it is time to pull the troops out. I have supported you throughout the years but lately I have been thinking, do we really need to spend more time and money in Iraq?

Even just recently I commented that I thought sending in more troops would probably help us wrap this war up and put an end to it.

But my husband and I were talking about it and we think that basically America is not fighting a country, we are fighting a belief. Terrorism is a belief. It would be like someone come over here and trying to wipe out all of the Christians.

There is something symbolic between Pearl Harbor and 9/11. Both instances, we were attacked. Both instances we retaliated. Both instances, we basically got what we went for (with 9/11 = Saddam). But what more are we fighting for? We can't wipe out all terrorists.
We need to set up a strong hold in Iraq and keep our presences there but move our troops out. Like what we have done in Germany.

Do you agree? Yes? No? Why?

In a similar situation in Vietnam, with no end in sight,, one Senator said what we should do was say we won and go home. They didn't take his advice and stayed a lot longer, caused more death and destruction, more of our troops were killed and wounded, many more Vietnamese suffered the same fate, and we still had to turn tail and run. We could just say we won and go back home the way we came. It would be an awful mess, and many worry we have made such a mess that if we leave now the Iraqis won't sell us any more oil, Bush won't have his base in Iraq that he wants, and our oil companies, close Bush family friends and business partners, won't get to come in and take over the oil fields. That is really what all this is about. Bush does not give a hoot about Iraqis or he would not have already killed 500,000 of them. His father set up Saddam, armed and trained his people, and looked the other way when Saddam used our weapons against his own people. Then Bush Sr., after the first Gulf War, encouraged the Kurds and Shiites to rebel against Saddam, only to sit silently by when they did so, and watch as Saddam brutally crushed them. These leaders of ours don't care about people, they are occupying and plundering Iraq and the US Treasury for $3 billion per week. There are no large amount of terrorists in Iraq. Mostly what we are fighting are Iraqis who want us to get the hell out of there. Why not oblige them?

Well I think theres a problem with your logic. And its this. The Democratic leaders have managed their way into office by taking a strong stand against this war, using terms like redeploy and phased withdrawal. The problem with this is the only time when American forces engaged in a large scale invasion have been successful in such an operation was in vietnam. The terrain in vietnam was good for this because of the thick jungle canopy so it facilitated their ability to do this. Also, vietnam was a great deal more stable than Iraq is today. More than this, it would take more forces in country to be able to aid in packing up what equipment and supplies they still have there and to aid in transporting the troops out. It would be near impossible for the forces currently there to be able to hold a defensive stance and get all of the people and equipment there out. If we tried to do that at this point the militias that are operating in the area would take this oppourtunity to round your loved ones up, and kill them in a very degrading way, and broadcast it for the world to see on Al Jazeera. I understand that you hate to see people die, or war or whatever your problem with all this is. I just feel like your time would be better spent supporting your friends or family who are over there, stop cursing the leadership, and take it one day at a time.

Yes and no. Yes pull out of Iraq. No we haven't gotten what we went for, because on 9/11 Ben Ladin not Saddam who was responsible for the attack. Ben Ladin is not in Iraq if he was we would have had him by now. We found Saddam hiding in a tiny grave like bunker.
