Is there any way I can go on birth control (pills preferably) without my parents knowing. I am 18 and I have a boyfriend. We dont intend to have sex anytime soon, but we want to be safe. I also intend to take it to dull the severity of period pain (at times its unbearable). I dont really know how it works with insurance or anything like that. Would it be on record that I receieved birth control?

Yes, you can go to your local planned parenhood clinic. They will give you the exam, the prescription, and dispense the pills, for little or no money depending on your situation. No, they don't contact your parents.

But you should still be using condoms, even if you do decide to go on the pill, and those you can get at any time at any drugstore.

you are 18..You are an adult..you can go to the doctor without your parents knowing. Most insurance companies from my experience do not pay for birth control. However If it is a matter of insurance then try and find the nearest planned parenthood and they may be able to help you get on birth control pills. Taking the pill really does help when it comes to that time of the month..i know because it has helped me..Perhaps if you tell your parents that it is to help control your pain every month then they will understand. Good luck. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

No. Schedule a routine exam with the OBGYN and then ask them for the pills. Your parents might get a statement that says you went to the doctor, but it would not specify what it was for because that breaks the new HEPA laws. If you are 18, no matter who has the policy, they cannot find out anything about you.

Your doctor has no right to share any info about your medical records with your family, so unless your parents work at the doctor's office there is no way they should be able to find out.

I don't know where you are but, in my state, if you're under 19, or under 23 and a full time student, it's free or next to no cost at the local family planning clinic.
