2.Why did humanists believe that rhetoric was an important skill?

I studied for exams and I forgot that I ahd this history thing to trun in so now I have to do this history test thing and make sure I'm ready for exams.

Because they used it as a form of persuasion. So, if you had refined rhetoric skills, then you had the upper hand in persuading others.

The reason that they believed that it was so important was because it was directly related to how well they could "reason". The better some one was at rhetoric, the better they were at thinking in general. The better they would be at figuring "life" out... Hope this helps.. Good luck on your test...

besides being a form of persuasion, rhetoric was also very important to the ancient greeks and romans. and anything that had to do with the ancient greeks and romans (meaning classical literature), the humanists decided was good for humanity to learn.
