because it does take your mind of your own troubles...it's chewing gum for the mind....and so the person does not feel out of touch with news/events, for some semblance of normalcy

Maybe if the "uppers" in medical field keep the rest of us dumbed down with TV then we won't notice when they are messing up or just guessing at the diagnosis.
They don't want us to see that room that has the "Wheel of Illness" that gets spun for every other patient who comes in with mystery symptoms.
I love "the tater" by the way! Ron White is the best!

What is even worse is they have some patients hands tied so they can't run away, either. It seems they always have a patient that monopolizes the tv, too, and they either watch TNN or the 800 Club all the time!
