I have two friends who are twins and they have tons of pets and are obsessed with breeding and have no reason for it. It's their parents fault becasue their parents have lots of money and are impulsive. They have:3 dogs, 3 cats, over 12 rats, over 10 birds and about four fishtanks one of which is a masive reef aquarium. They also recently bought a massive catscratch and a 2m high bird cage. They don't have any more time and space than anyone else, just money. They live in an average sized house with a pool with no fence around it and they have no lawn in the backgarden and in the front the grass is dead and covered in weeds and full of prickles. They are still planning on breeding their rats and selling them and breeding their birds. They also want to put in a massive aviary in the back of their yard with lots more birds , a pond and some ducks. All their pets are crazy and nopt trained yet they keep buying more. Their dogs do not get walked at all and the dogs and cats just walk over..

tables and benches and just lick leftover bowls and plates. They don't even have enough time to look after their pets. The parents both work full time and work night shifts sometimes and one of the twins only looks after her kitten and the other sort-of looks after the rest. Their smaller pets always seem to die every now and then but to them it's seems normal and they just go and buy another one. They don't even really and truly love their pets and only give their attention to the latest pets and always show off when they get a new pet and they have to brag to their friend's parents and show them the pets. Does any body have any comments on this or any ideas to make them see what they're doing is wrong!?!

ASPCA would be one possibility, but the response you get from them can vary greatly by area.

Another thing you can try is to find out your local (township, city, county, parrish) zoning ordinances. Unless they are a farm or kennel, they may me limited in the number of certain animals they can keep withhout applying for a license (this typically only applies to dogs, cats, exotic birds, and reptiles). Licenses usually come with periodic inspections.

Good luck!

We have over 50 pets in our house, but everyone pitches in for their care, plus doing regular chores. I get litter pans, everyone feeds and waters, 4 of us split walking the dogs. My husband and one son can't walk them do to injuries. Some have specific animals only they are in charge of as well. It's an assembly line on cleaning hamster cages - all 15 of them. My oldest daughter and I get the fish tanks. Even my 10 year old has her jobs with them. I'm home full time, my husband and youngest son have full time jobs, the girls have school and my oldest son runs a home business. We just took in an abandoned Pomeranian mix on Friday and had gotten our 20th hamster on Wednesday. We also have 14 cats- many were rescues or abandoned also. There's also a wolf hybrid, a spaniel mix, a rabbit, a Pygmy goat, a red sheep, 2 cocktails, a tarantula, a lavender king snake, an iguana and two tanks of fish. All but the goat and sheep are indoors most of the time. It's a lot of work, but we love them all - well I'm not too keen on the spider. You need to call animal control, humane society, ASPCA or whoever is in your area right away and have their home investigated for the welfare of the animals and the twins. You can do this anonymously. There may be laws about all the animals they have. Where I live, there's a 5 dog limit, but I live in a suburban/rural area too. There people are like the hoarders I've seen on TV.

At first, I wasn't sure what the problem was, but as soon as you said neglect, you caught my attention. First off, many places have laws stating how many pets or animals you can have on your property or in your home. So, first, call your local sheriff's office and get that information. Next, if you have an ASPCA or a local humane society, seek their help. If you don't have one in your area, the animal warden or the sheriff may be in charge of such situations. In any case, contact the sheriff and try to help these poor animals. Even if you have to give them your name, do it. You don't need friends who abuse and neglect their animals.

As the twins are your friends it would be good if you pitched in and helped as much as you can. Perhaps by helping you would set an example of how to enjoy pets by looking after them a little better. However don't try and do too much and perhaps a burial location would also be a useful thing to do to take care of the deceased.

You could explain to them what they are doing wrong and ask them to use their money for something good such as things for the pets or donating it to an animal shelter
