The worst thing is that we went in under false pretentses.
By now it's been proven that:
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11
Iraq was no threat to the US
(Saddam may have been a threat to his own people, but if we started to declare ware on evety 2-bit dictator, just for what he did to his people, we'd be up to our elbows in wars. Kim Yung Ill would have been a far better goon to take out.)
Iraq had no WMDs (except for some remnants of chemical weapons we gave them. so they could invade Iran)
The UN weapons inspecors told us so, but what do they know.
Also
The French told us so, and rather than listening to them, we tried to insult them by calling french fries "freedom fries" That really showed the world that the US had no clue: Since "French" fries originated in BELGUIM and had little to do with France. the Yes, the French do eat them - like everyone else in Europe.
Yes the president could be right - and the world is flat.

I don't believe Bush is right.
I also don't have a child to sacrifice. If i did i would make my child clearly understand that, just like a firefighter who gets paid to fight fires; soldiers do get paid to possibly fight wars.
Here in Australia, i just watched "three Kings" with Ice Cube, George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg...
In the film, set at the end of the 1990-91 Gulf War, the Iraqi civilians are all really annoyed that the US is pulling out and leaving Saddam in power...
I firmly believe that the UN and the coalition forces in that war should've removed Saddam back then. They had firm reasons - Saddam's invasion of a sovereign nation, Kuwait.
Upon further reflection, they could've tried Saddam for various war crimes he instigated during the Iran-Iraq war, as well as crimes against his own citizens.
Ahh, the benefit of hindsight hey!

I think that our President feels that he is correct. Unfortunately, there have been 3,280 coalition deaths -- 3,028 Americans, two Australians, 129 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, six Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 32 Italians, one Kazakh, three Latvian, 18 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians -- in the war in Iraq as of January 19, 2007, according to a CNN count.

The causes and consequences of this war will probably always remain controversial as everyone has such different opinions about it. I personally feel that this war should have never been started and I just hate to see more lives lost.
Also, just a note to "Irish Girl"...your statement is incorrect..there are many people in the military currently stationed in Iraq who are not there under their own free will. There are many soldiers who openly object to this war but by not following military orders, they can face prison time. Some are taking that chance.

i could admit, as a small agency proprietor i do no longer understand this argument approximately taxes. Taxes are per earnings, and each thing you spend on working a agency is deductible. "the optimal era of improve in U.S. historic past (1933-1973) additionally observed its optimal tax expenses on the wealthy: 70 to ninety one p.c.. in this era, the final tax fee climbed besides, even though it reached a plateau in 1969, and improve slowed down 5 years later. exceedingly much all wealthy international locations have bigger common taxes than the U.S., and that they are transforming into swifter besides. I BELIEVE AT THIS POINT IT IS THE BEST THING THE UNITED STATES CAN DO BECAUSE CURRENTLY MANY OF THE TROOPS ARE BUSY KEEPING WATCH, RATHER THAN TRAINING IRAQI FORCES SO THEY CAN AT ONE POINT TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. WITH THIS INCREASE IN TROOPS, TRAINING OR MORE TRAINING SHOULD HOPEFULY BE CONDUCTED.

sadly, I don't thik war is that cut and clean like we want it to be. Not everyone over there is our enemy, not everyone we are fighting is wrong or right.
You just have to diecide if what we are fighting for is worth it or not to loose lives and gain freedom or to keep some lives, loose others, loose religious rights... and so on
