What ever you do - do not enage a private tutor especially in Singapore.

Most private tutors in Singapore are students in Uni, hence the committment levels are questionable. The really good ones will end up starting a centre, as that is an easy way to earn more money with less travelling. Also home tutors do not have worksheets and exam papers prepared.
and Home tuition lack one very important thing - competition for your son to compare how well is he doing vis-a-vis other students.

There are enough centres out there in Singapore that can provide you with good strong teachers to help your son.

Choose one that has committed teachers. Better still, a centre that does not hire teachers to teach but the principal teaches the class himself personally. This is the best commitment you can get.

Also very important : MUST be approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) ie they are license. You won't buy food from an unlicensed hawker right ?
so that the minimum standard is there. A lot of tuition are not license - they are running the centre illegally under the law.

If he needs help in Mathematics, a numbers of Indians (including me) can help using Internet.
You can also request teachers at his school to suggest some good local tutors. That is how I got my first student.

Go to his school and ask them if they can recommand someone to tutor him. At the very least they should be able to recommand someone who does this professionally.
