I don't know about resigning but they should be reprimanded and fined heavily for sitting on their hands and not acting any sooner, if at all. Or were they concerned it may affect their viewing figures. I bet it would be like a journalist witnessing a car crash tv incident - do they run to assistance or do they start filming? I don't think they were bothered about losing the sponsorship with Carphone warehouse, the publicity generated from it all was priceless.
Channel 4 knew all this was going to happen, with all their psycho analysts. They wanted Big Brother to be evil and encouraged bitching and that's what Shilpha got. Don't blame the other 3, they're already imbeciles, blame the real culprit - Channel 4. I'm suprized if there will be any celebrities left who would be willing to do next year's CBB.

Absolutely not.
I think that it showed a true representation of a certain cross section of the UK population. It did offer Channel 4/Endemol's opinions, and I think did not in any way showcase racist values; if anything, it showed how petty and pathetic any kind of racist discrimination is, and did a great deal to undermine such views.
Racism is a fact, and sweeping it under the carpet is not going to get rid of it. The "racism" shown on Big Brother was not born out of hatred, but more out of ignorance and stupidity, and I certainly found the bullying aspect far more disturbing.
Let it continue, and if you don't like "dumbing down" TV, then don't watch such shows.

relies upon on no matter if the consequent row become truly a count number of sensible modifying. Did it truly take position that way or become it a case of reducing right here and digicam images there which made it into more suitable of a tale? i'm no longer condoning what any of the Bitches of Elstree had to assert on the count number yet who become the worst criminal - the B of E for retaining it, Channel 4 for exhibiting it or the generic public for gazing it? I purely felt ashamed on the time that the purely those with any shred of dignity interior the united kingdom version of 'superstar' BB were no longer from the united kingdom in any respect. H and Cleo were ok yet they ought to have splinters of their bums from sitting on the fence. they'd have acted to diffuse the priority at any time.

Hogshead,
They've certainly boosted their viewing figures by whipping up a whirlwind of controversy!!!
Jade was, almost certainly, angry rather than "racist", when faced with a cultured, talented, wealthy lady with values very different to her own.
Big Brother, in my opinion, is the modern day equivalent of bear baiting or bull fighting, very low grade entertainment.
However, the Board have given the public what the public wants; and are laughing all the way to the Bank!!!
Regards,
The Mac

No. The reason everyone is so obsessed with this, as with the veil in classrooms, is because the media won't let it go. The words 'racist celeb' (though i don't think jade is much of either)sell you more papers, its not in the interest to let it go.
it's also fair to say that BB does represent a truth in humanity, and even if sometimes it uncovers a seedy underbelly, it's real, that's the idea of the show, they'd be unfaithful to the format if they intervened.

Channel 4 should be closed down and the board could go back to writing on public toilet walls

I don't think so. Surely the whole point of this programme, i.e. the reason anyone watches it, is for the promise of scandal or confrontation. Otherwise it's barely a programme. I imagine that most of the time it's entirerly uneventful, or petty squabbling keeps people watching. The latest controversy has got people talking about the programme and racism including those who wouldn't usually bother with one or the other.

I think so for they milked the racist remarks made to gain more publicity. For if they know that if more people watch their progam they will get more money out of advertising etc. But this is obviously unexceptable for it shows that they do not consider racism as a serious enough issue to take serious action

Maybe they should. Jade Goody agreed on a TV show that she indeed made racist remarks. Now the UK is essentially a racist country, I would say it is the most racist country coupled with France.
They pushed reality issue way too far. Most people say it was not a racist issue. These people are obviously white and do not know what it feels or sounds like when a racial slur is spewed against you. If you think that there was no racism involved then you are biased and are probably racist yourself. Even a mentally disabled child with cerebral palsy would be able to identify the strong and crude racial overtones.
So how racist are you?

i would rather imagine they will be clinking glasses of champagne and lighting cigars with twenty pound notes.
Look at it their way-the show was acknowledged by more or less everyone to be a dull flop-then suddenly, wow, everyones talking about it, and Jade is as bad as Hitler. She isn't my favourite person, but I think she is too thick too be a racist.
Its totally despicable ratings grabbing, with the full collusion of the newspapers.
But hey, it diverts attention away from Iraq, right?
