For me, I'd just be friendly with him. I always wait for him to make the first move. If the move is never made and I feel brave enough I might be a little flirty and see how he responds.
If still nothing, then do a group date with friends like going dancing and ask if he'd like to dance (make sure a slow song is coming up). You can always tell if a guy likes you by the way he dances with you ;)

I recommend that if you know his friends, ask them to check the answer for you without making your crush notice. Or ask him yourself. If it was for my crush I would do it because I love him.
