lol i did one of these last week! It's not in the upper radiator hose. It is in the lower radiator hose. 94-01 have them in the lower hose, previous gens had them in the upper.

And if you're still in doubt, you can remove either one of the hoses and stick your finger in it. If you feel something and your finger cant go any deeper, that is where the thermostat is located.

The thermostat is located at the end of the lower radiator hose. You need to drain the fluid. Make sure the car is cool, let it sit over night before beginning. On the bottom of the radiator there is a plastic screw. Place a drain container undernetaht, twist the plug and let all the coollant drain. Once fully drained, tighten the plastic cap and begin this below 1) Make sure car is off and negative terminal on battery is disconnected 2) Use pliers to remove the lower clip on the lower radiator hose at the end that goes into the thermostat, not the end that goes into the radiator itself. 3) Pull the radiator hose off. 4) There are two bolts (10mm) one on the top and one on the bottom. The top bolt is pretty easy to reach wth a normal socket wrench. For the lower one, it is kinda difficult. Its best to remove the top part of the air intake for more clearance. 5) Once you unscrew both of those bolts, the with a rubber mallet, gently tap and the male end where the hose connects will come off. 6) Make sure you get a standard OEM thermostat and get an OEM gasket as well. 7) Note where the old thermostat is positioned because you will be replacing it in the same exact part when you put it back. 8) Reverse Steps 1 to 6 You should flush everything while the gasket/male end is off. good luck

Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. Unbolt the two bolts and take out the thermaostat and reverse what you did. You don't need to take off the hose. But you'll need to remove alot of other things in order to remove the thermostat I did mines last month i got a 97 gsr.

the thermostat housing on most engines I have seen is where the upper radiator hose enters the engine block.
drain a bit of coolant and remove the hose. there should be 2 bolts that need to be removed and then you are at the thermostat.
Remember the orientation of the thermostat and replace it with the same orientation and put the housing back on and replace the hose.

It is quite an easy repair job.

Good Luck.
