Apparently the hottest new Christian name is "Nevaeh" -- "heaven" spelled backwards. It traces it genealogy to a single cultural big bang: In 2000, Sonny Sandoval, the singer for the Christian-rock unit P.O.D., appeared on MTV and introduced his baby daughter Nevaeh. He explained the provenance -- "Heaven spelled backwards" -- and apparently the country was totally smitten.

I agree with you, with an exception!
A woman I know that had a very premature child with incredible medical conditions. She named her Nevaeh because she knew that her daughter was not expected to make it more than a week. She considered her daughter to be "going to Heaven the backwards way." I thought this was a very special way to use the name Nevaeh!

Yep, leamspaulding has it right.
I agree w/ most of the other posters, it's a bad, overused, made-up name that makes me think of moisturizing products. Although I do admit I get some twisted joy out of seeing people say, "My daughter's name is Neveah, it's "heaven" spelled backwards." Yes, it is. If you're dyslexic!

Nevaeh is a sucky name, but it's not ghetto. It's pure, 100% trailer trash.

i agree. it is over-used. my cousin just had a baby girl in may and she named her nevaeh skye. i had never heard of the name at that time and thought it was strange, but now - in the last 9 months - i hear it everywhere !!

I agree. Why would anyone want to name their child the reverse of heaven?

Oh I never thought of that being Heaven backwards.
I like Nivea - but wouldn't name any of my kids that.
