Roger Federer. He's the most "complete" player to ever play the game.

Sampras was a superior player in every way. His serve was unbreakable, his volleys immense and mentally he was light years ahead of Federer.

Federer is good but lets face it, he has no real competition - the rest of the players around just now will not be remembered when they are gone. When Sampras played he was surrounded by legends - Agassi, Becker, Chang, Lendl, Edberg, Muster... to excel in an era so full of all-time greats he must have been spectacular. Unless another genius comes along soon we'll never know how good Federer really is.

Incidentally, I agree with Ta Ta, Andre Agassi is the most gifted sporting genius of them all, more natural talent than ten Federers.

it would be incredibly close.. Federer would win 50 percent of the matches and sampras would win 50 percent of the matches. It would be an intense rivalry. But Federer is more complete and Sampras is a better serve-vollyer, and the game has changed since Sampras left as theres less serve-volley so I dont know how Sampras would do now or how Federer would do in Sampras's time.

i would go with Federer because he is simply a magician on the court. However with the serve and volleys Sampras is much betta

i have been there from the start of both their careers.i say sampras because of his serve.federer would rarely be able to break him just like everybody else.federer' serve is easier to break.the rest of their games is brilliant so for me,the serve would separate them.this is despite the fact that federer will break sampras' record of 14 grand slams.

I guess Roger has the edge. He has more a forceful play than Pete, and is almost flawless.
