that we will see big discounts on cars and merchandise?I mean a chinese worker gets a dollar an hr compared to $28 dollars an hr in the U.S.to build a car, that means that cars will be 50% cheaper to buy now or will they just be ripping us off anyways. How about everybody stop buying cars for a year and piss them all off. Stop buying gas for a week, Corporate america is digging hole for bankruptcy.Take money out of there pockets and watch them squirm like all these people out of work.I think we should do it and watch them lose there a ss.Give them a taste of there own medicine. Dont buy nothing for a week or cars for a year.

You are right about the cars coming from China being cheaper. Since they cost less to produce, they are generally less expensive to purchase. Except in the US, of course, because our government has placed protective import taxes on these types of commodities in order to make them more comparable in price to US manufactured automobiles. These import taxes apparently are not doing the job, since Ford and GM are both in a bit of a predicament financially. Years of protection by the government has made US manufacturers a bit lazy. They no longer try to change their vehicle designs to those that are desired by the people. This is causing them to lose money and digging them into a financial hole.
Then there is the wage issue. The reason that the labor in the automobile market is so high is that they are protected by unions. These high wages make it harder for domestic manufacturers to compete. Honestly, do these workers need to make $28 an hour? If they were paid more in line with the value their labor adds to the end product, they would receive slightly less, but more workers could be hired, and/or the company wouldn't have to close its doors because they can no longer afford these high wages. Seems to me having a job at a lower pay would be better than having no job at all.
Most of the problems for domestic manufacturers are dependent upon measures that have been taken to distort the free market. If these had never been instituted, perhaps one or two manufacturers would have gone out of business earlier, but those that had survived would be stronger and more able to compete with foreign manufacturers today.

The corporations do not care. Profits is the motive and so they will go where wages are less so as to enhance profits. They do not care a dam about you or the flag. America is becoming a financial capital instead of a production one. But too much money would produce bubbles like the one that burst the other day.

Go around and look at people. There is no way you will get any appreciable group to do it. We are all addicted to buying. Buying keeps our economy going. What was one of the first things they talked about after 9-11 ? Keep going to the stores. In other words, keep the economy going.

my brother would have to walk 5+ miles
God knows how long it would take my parents.
Not to mention you can't help it if you get in an accident and need to get a new car.
